Summit, NJ – Anthony Pyzik Injured at Morris Ave & Lower Overlook Rd
Summit, NJ (April 22, 2020) – An officer with the Summit Police Department was seriously injured following an accident on Tuesday, April 21st. Officer Anthony Pyzik, 31, was involved in the crash at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Lower Overlook Road at around 12:16 a.m. Pyzik was monitoring a vehicle pursuit at the time of the collision.
According to local sources, the suspect vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with Pyzik’s vehicle. Pyzik was transported to the trauma center at Morristown Medical Center by the Summit First Aid Squad. The two suspects, Walleed Wheeler, 18, and Dante Brown, 20, of Newark, New Jersey, were apprehended.
Local authorities are currently investigating the accident.
