Deadly Train-Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey
The leading cause of deaths on railways involve pedestrians being hit by trains. Since 1997, an estimated 7,200 pedestrians have been killed after being struck by a train in the United States, and more than 6,400 were injured in similar accidents. An average of 500 pedestrians are killed in train collisions annually across the country. Pedestrians have little protecting them in the event of a crash, meaning being struck by a massive train is often fatal.
